Ultimate Guide to Miami Beach, Poolside

Whether your ideal poolside vacation is spent lounging in the quiet serenity of a luxe cabana, popping champagne bottles over crowds of people to sick house beats or some happy medium of the two, Miami Beach has you covered three times over.

In prep for your next escape to the most popular part of the sunshine state, here’s a north-to-south look at 33 of America’s most sought after poolsides, all huddled in the 4-mile stretch of sunshine from 46th St. down to South Pointe on Miami Beach.

Where will you decide to stay and play?!

Eden Roc Miami \\ 1

Starting off on the north end, Eden Roc Miami has been catering to the luxury crowd along the Golden Mile since 1956. The 4 classic pools and Cabana Beach Club rep old school Miami with a modern twist.

Fontainebleau \\ 2

The larger-than-life dreams of Miami Beach luxury you’re having? Fontainebleau made ’em. One of the city’s most iconic creations (and home to top-grossing nightclub LIV),Fontainebleau boasts walls of water around a free-form pool, sun loungers and cabanas that range from daybeds to your own private island — complete with four 32-inch flatscreens and wireless internet, of course.

Soho Beach House \\ 3

Soho’s upscale bohemian vibe amenities are only open to members and hotel guests, so if a more exclusive getaway is your style, this is the place for you. The main pool downstairs offers chill vibes and soft tunes while the plunge pool and tequila-ria await on the sky deck to add a little spark to your creativity. Don’t forget to check out Cecconi’s Restaurant and the Cowshed Spa on-site, too!

The Freehand Miami \\ 5

The combat-boot wearing hipster gem among six-inch stilletos. Freehand is the U.S.’s first high-end hostel brand (though it still offers single rooms), with quads, super 8’s and an activity concierge coordinating bocce ball, ping pong, bicycle rentals, and all the other community events the hostel community is loved for. They have a vegetable garden onsite and their poolside bar The Broken Shaker was named One of the World’s 50 Best.

1 Hotels \\ 6

Formerly the Gansevoort and The Perry South Beach Hotel, 2341 Collins has switched hands a few times in recent years but the quadra-poolside lounging options keep the crowds coming. Cabanas and day beds at one of the four separated pool areas are at the core of the Hotels 1 experience. Can you feel the sunshine?

The Shelborne \\ 11

Classic, vintage, chic.

The Raleigh \\ 12

Tommy Hilfiger’s newest takeover, the Raleigh’s ornately-shaped pool, faux lighthouse lifeguard stand and lush back patio make for one of the most unique ambiances on the beach.

South Seas Hotel \\ 13

Dip into the saltwater pool from a chaise lounge with an ocean view and direct access? Don’t mind if I do.

Surfcomber \\ 14

Surfcomber is a serious hot spot during Miami’s major music festivals like Winter Music Conference and Ultra, holding tight to it’s fame since hosting the MTV Movie Awards in 2005. Also direct beach access.

SLS Hotel \\ 15

Fame for music festivals, fame for impeccable rooms, fame for pool parties, and fame for one of the best restaurants in Miami just inside the doors at Jose Andres’ Bazaar. No matter where in the world you’re from, you’ve heard of SLS for a reason.

The Standard Spa – West Side \\ 16

Posted up on Belle, a lush residential island on Biscayne Bay, The Standard is purposefully separated from the main drag. This holistic and hydrotherapy-oriented spa hotel is inspired by global bathing cultures, for an entirely different “pool” experience.

The Gale \\ 17

Framed in black marble, the Gale’s infinity oasis pool sneaks a more relaxed vibe between some of soBe’s rowdiest spots.

The National \\ 19

Miami Beach vintage with a touch of modern elegance.

Sagamore \\ 20

Officially known as “The Art Hotel,” the decadent Sagamore on Collins is home to the only zero-entry pool on the beach, and named One of the Top 20 Beach Resorts by Travel + Leisure. The carefully curated gallery collection is swapped out every 3-6 months, but the interior stairwell murals by local artisans are there to stay.

The Ritz-Carlton \\ 21

Always a classic, the grand Ritz pool on the second floor gives an elevated beach view.

Loews Miami Beach Hotel \\ 22

Loews Hotel is the largest and most family-oriented poolside on soBe.

The Betsy Hotel \\ 23

Decked with southern charm, Atlantic views and a quaint, quiet poolside, the Betsy Hotel is the only Forbes Travel Guide four-star and AAA Four Diamond Award winner on the beach.

The Tides \\ 24

Private key access restriction between floors keep hotel-hoppers from disturbing the Tide’s serene heated pool experience.

Dream South Beach \\ 25

The Sunday party at this 70’s-themed rooftop pool is another of Miami’s best. Champagne showers comin’ your way!

The Villa by Barton G \\ 26

The Angler’s \\ 29

Angler’s has one of the smallest pools along Ocean, but the boutique resort’s vine-colored retreat and dual cabanas are a perfect place to relax after unlimited mimosa brunch at 660 out front.

The Savoy \\ 30

Available to non-guests for a $25 fee, the Savoy’s sparkling dual pools are another one of the few options on Ocean that lead to direct beach access.

Sense Beach House \\ 31

Sense’s poolside should be right next to “beach chic” in the dictionary. Atop the smallest boutique hotel on soBe and popular brunch spot The Local House,” the vibe here is like iced sparkling lemonade on a summer day.

Viceroy Miami – Brickell \\ 32

The Viceroy is a hop-skip and a jump away in Brickell, but no list of Miami’s best poolsides would be complete without this 300-ft., five-star infinity (Florida’s longest) and skyscraper view on the 50th floor rooftop. This trendy financial district spot hosts an elegant crowd of partiers all week long at Club 50, with special events every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

EPIC – Brickell \\ 33

Two pools on the 16th floor overlooking downtown? EPIC. After you’re done soaking up the sun, kick off your night with the best espresso martini you’ll ever have downstairs at Zuma.

That’s a wrap! Where would you lay your towel for the ultimate Miami Beach poolside vacay? Any hot spots I missed?
